AUGUST AT HAMPTONS LIBRARY


Lego Mania!
Thursday August 19th, 3:30 p.m. for children ages 4 and up.
Create anything you like with Legos at the library! A great chance for parents to relax and socialize, too.

Blanket and Books
Wednesday August 18th, 6:30 – 6:50 p.m. for children of all ages.
Come in your pajamas and snuggle down with your favorite blanket or stuffed animal for 20 minutes of sleepy time stories. Note: if you plan to check out materials, please do so before the program starts.

Water-themed Yoga with Peaceful Planet Yoga
Tuesday, August 24th, 4:00 p.m. for children ages 5-8
Join Kristin Davies in exploring water themed yoga. Kristin’s delightful yoga practice is the only yoga business in the Hamptons dedicated solely to children. Kristin’s classes are loads of fun.

Saturday mornings at 10:00 a.m. for children ages 4 – 7.
Join us for stories and a fun craft!

Bridge Kids (ages 8-12)
Wii Games for Kids Only- Kids Rule!
Wednesday, August 25th at 5:00 p.m.
For children ages 8 and up
Play Wii games following a group vote. Pizza and beverages will be provided.

FAMILY

“The Great 2012 Scare: Fact vs. Fantasy”
Thursday, August 19th, 7:00 p.m.
Astrophysicist Kevin Manning, will reveal the fiction and the truth about the Mayan calendar followed in ancient Mexico and Guatemala, as well as the $200 million dollar disaster film. Following the presentation, a powerful telescope will be set up outdoors for viewing the Moon, the rings of Saturn and other beautiful objects in the night sky. Weather permitting.

High Seas Adventure
Saturday, August 21st, 1:00 p.m.
For children of all ages and families.
Celebrate the close of a water-themed summer with food, games, music and more for the entire family.

TEENS

2012 is Here Now
Thursday, August 19th at 5:30 p.m.
A talk with our guest astrologer, Kate Plumb. This summer five upcoming planetary cycles will simultaneously occur, marking the beginning of our transition to the “New Age”. This same event happened over 1000 years ago and we’ll see what happened in history then before speculating what might happen this time. We’ll talk about meaning of a planet, cycle and phase, and why we even use astrology.

Movie and Munchies:
“The Horse Boy”
Saturday, August 28th at 1:00 p.m. A young autistic boy raised by a horse trainer and his wife investigate many types of therapy. Discovering their son’s natural affinity for horses, they travel on horseback in Outer Mongolia to find healing. NR
